Q. Why Poppadum?

Pappadum — Fried puffed up & Malyali from Kerala

Q. What is it?

A. It is specific to Indian sub-continent, hand rolled at home and they differ from area to area. In North India, the pappadums are mainly from Black Lentil, whereas in South India, they are made from rice. After rolling, it is sun dried and preserved. Pappadum is a standard accompaniment with Indian cuisine, which is eaten before meals as an appetizer also during meals and after meals. These are about six inch in diameter, sold in raw form and fried or roasted and consumed within minutes and has no shelf life. These are generally prepared by the grand mothers for home use and are also distributed to close relatives and friends.

Q. Where is it made?

A. It is made at homes all over Indian sub-continent.

Q. What's so good about it?

A. Lentil Poppadums are healthy as these are full of proteins and Hunter has developed a unique deep frying process, where oil is removed after frying to maintain oil percentage below 15% as against normal Potato Chips which has oil around 38%. These are with natural ingredients, have no trans fatty acids, no GMO, no cholesterols and are Gluten Free. Shikar Poppadums, although fried looks and taste like they are roasted.

Q. How are they used?

A. These are used as a gourmet snack on their own, with cocktails as any time snack. These are also served with dips, or as an appetizer.
